You may be surprised to know that despite their success both at home and abroad, Florence + The Machine have never actually made it past Number 5 in The Official Single Charts before.
However, it was announced today that the band finally made it into the top spot with ‘Spectrum (Say My Name)’, the latest single from last years album Ceremonials. Previously the band had only made the Number 1 spot in the album charts, with 2009′s debut Lungs and their sophomore release Ceremonials.
Featuring Florence’s powerful vocals, moving strings and delicate harp, Spectrum has leapfrogged previous chart topper ‘Payphone’ by Maroon 5. The single has since been remixed by London electro-pop duo AlunaGeorge (which I have had on heavy rotation) and Calvin Harris, and has a glamorous, cinematic video directed by renowned photographer David LaChapelle.

I think Flo fans everywhere are saying unanimously: about bloody time.
