Preview: ‘Sleep Paralysis’ by Gabriel Bruce

Gabriel Bruce - Sleep ParalysisI’ve never had sleep paralysis, but apparently it’s this really scary thing where your brain wakes up before your body and you can’t move. It’s quite terrifying because you are in the dark, alone, paralysed. Life can feel quite a lot like that sometimes.

Enter Gabriel Bruce, former front man of Loverman. As soon as the track started, I just went ‘THAT VOICE’. Move over Johnny Cash or what. What starts out melancholic and steady, soon lifts up with an inspiring organ and backing vocals until it reaches an almighty crescendo at 2:52.

Made in close collaboration with Off Modern Records, the song will be part of the album OMR002, all about the strange sensation of sleep paralysis. It will include a 50-page book to match, also written by Gabriel Bruce. Put that on your coffee table for a conversation starter with house guests.

You can stream ‘Sleep Paralysis’ below. I strongly suggest high-quality headphones.

OMR002 is due for release on December 5th. Visit Off Modern Records for more details.
